Fastest Growing Mobile Phone Recycling Company
Changes Name;
Major Launches in Austria and Portugal;
Further Launches to Follow in 2010

The fastest growing mobile phone recycling company has changed it’s name to zonzoo and re-launched its UK website: www.zonzoo.co.uk. 

In 2009 alone zonzoo will have recycled nearly two million mobile phones and estimates it will treble that figure in 2010. It recycles mobile phones from the public and for such corporate customers as Nectar, Tesco, T-Mobile, Telenor, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone.

zonzoo will remain a large contributor to charitable causes, donating 5% of each phone’s value to a charity of the customer’s choice, or if none is proposed, a charity from its own list. To date the company has raised in excess of over €10 million.

Known up to now in the UK as Greener Solutions trading as mobile2cash, zonzoo has been launched across all of the Company’s European offices, including those based in the UK, Germany, Spain, Holland and Belgium.

zonzoo is launching new operations in Austria and Portugal next week (which include dedicated staff, offices and websites), and will open a further two new operations a month throughout 2010.

The Company was started in 2001 by its present day Chief Executive Officer Mr Colin Armstrong-Bell with strong green ambitions and was the first to offer people the chance to recycle their mobile phone online.

“I’m proud to say we pioneered the way for this growing part of the recycling industry and with three billion phones out there, and over a billion more being added each year, we have got to do far more about this growing problem of redundant mobiles,” said Mr Armstrong-Bell.
“The change of name to zonzoo reflects our substantial growth throughout Europe and the need for a name that works across so many diverse cultures and peoples. We have high hopes for zonzoo and see it as a brand name that represents the highest standards in recycling and one that can continue to make significant contributions to charities across the world.”

1.    zonzoo ensures that used phones are either stripped of harmful components, or used again in developing world.
2.    Mobile phones contain mixture of elements that when broken down, can be hazardous if not disposed of properly. These include arsenic, antimony, beryllium, cadmium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel and zinc.
